A ladies pamper evening to raise money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of father-of-three Paul Bates will take place in Great Cornard.

It will be held at Wells Hall Old School on Friday February 22 and has been organised by the family of Paul, who died at the age of just 39 in 2005, leaving behind a partner and three children.

His daughter Gemma, who has helped organise the event, said: “My father was a huge part of the community so our local pub did a fundraiser in order to pay for our Christmas presents as my father died in November.

“My brother was born with a hole in his heart and I have an ectopic heart beat, so the charity is very close to home.

“Last year we managed to raise over £1,600 and we are hoping to beat this total, or at least match it.”

The pamper evening will feature a range of products and treatments with which to spoil yourself.

Admission is £2 and the event starts at 6pm. For more details go to the ‘Charity day in memory of Paul Bates’ group on Facebook.
