Voluntary groups from around Sudbury have recognised with a special awards ceremony.

Hive, the consortium of voluntary, community and social enterprises, organised the event at the Delphi centre where more than 30 volunteers were honoured for their work and achievments.

Hive chair Shirley Moore presented trophies to 11 winners and certificates to more than 20 runners-up.

She said: “This was a wonderful occasion and it was a huge honour to meet and congratulate so many outstanding volunteers.

“We are so lucky to have such an active volunteering community here in Sudbury. I hope others will be inspired by the uplifting stories that we heard on the day to think about becoming volunteers themselves.”

The ceremony was attended by around 100 people, who saw a display by the Phoenix Suffolk Community Marchers of inclusive marching and baton twirling.
