As you read this, we will be halfway through Sudbury Dramatic Society’s run through to Saturday of ‘Make Way for Lucia’ adapted by John Van Druten from the novels of E F Benson and featuring much loved characters that have seen many productions on screen and stage over the years.

Remember the 1980’s TV series Mapp and Lucia, featuring Geraldine McEwan, Prunella Scales and Nigel Hawthorne?

It was a roaring success at the time, and this live play will bring back warm memories and hilarity as battle lines are drawn in the village of Tilling upon the arrival of Lucia into Miss Mapp’s matriarchal social circle. Who will come out on top in this 1930s set comedy drama?

Coming up next week we have two sold out shows – Nicholas Parsons and The Elo Encounter and then we have seats available for the rest of the month’s fayre, including the hilarious and immersive ‘Bond - An Unauthorised Parody’, brought to us by the multi-talented Gavin Robertson. Here on Saturday, September 29, this is the first time we have featured this well-travelled and much respected comedy tour-de-force. Gavin Robertson focuses his attention on the Bond phenomenon in a physical cartoon style adventure - spoofing the characters adored by millions, and exploding every cliché in the book(s)… solo! Bond meets his greatest arch-villain yet - Ian Fleming himself, courtesy of a time-machine, and featuring the smallest car chase (n)ever seen.

Reviews have been universally great - “Comedy at its best - funny, subtle and intelligent” Broadway World…“Gavin Robertson performs with a subtle authority that is compelling to watch” - The Guardian.

On the eve of Bond’s arrival, Friday, September 28, we see the return of the magnificent powerhouse tribute to classic rock anthems and power ballads that is ‘Leather and Lace’.

Featuring male and female top vocalists and a tight, highly professional band, you can expect to sing along to worldwide hits from artistes such as Journey, Bon Jovi, Starship, Heart, Queen, Whitesnake, Europe, Boston, Cher, Foreigner, Bryan Adams, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Mr Mister, Extreme, KISS, Toto, Def Leppard, Van Halen and more. Rock on!
